What inspired you to join UCM?
I was inspired to join UCM because of its deep and unwavering investment in the pillar of Environmental Justice. This work aligns closely with both my personal experiences and my professional passion for justice-centered organizing.
What previous experience prepared you for this role?
I bring over five years of organizing experience, including as a Gamaliel Environmental Justice Organizer, as well as a formal educational background in psychology, political science, history, and business. This combination has given me the tools to build power and lead policy-focused campaigns effectively.
Are there any personal experiences that have shaped your dedication to this cause?
Yes—I am an impacted person who has faced environmental justice concerns in and around my community my entire life. These lived experiences have shaped my commitment to equity, sustainability, and justice.
Are there any certifications, degrees, or specialized training you’d like to highlight?
I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology with minors in Political Science and History, and a Master’s in Business Administration with an emphasis in Human Resources. I’m also a certified practitioner with the International Institute for Restorative Practices (IIRP) and a Gamaliel Certified Trainer, supporting both local and national organizing efforts.
Do you have any personal passions or causes you support that align with your work here?
Yes—my faith has shaped my passion for caring for creation, and I have a long-term investment in building sustainable and healthy communities. My undocumented Indigenous roots also ground my commitment to justice, equity, and community healing.
Can you share a fun fact or surprising detail about yourself?
I have triplet brothers!
Do you have a favorite quote, motto, or saying that reflects your outlook or approach to life?
“Reduce. Reuse. No person or community is disposable.”
Is there anything else you’d like people to know about you or your work?
In addition to my organizing work, I am a Gamaliel Certified Trainer and regularly support both local and national organizing trainings to help build leadership and collective power across communities.
